Promoting Cultural Exchange Between Mexico and the United States Since 1968
Objective:
Fomento Educacional, A.C. is a nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of Mexico, whose mission is to provide financial support to institutions, associations, or organizations with cultural purposes that are authorized to receive tax-deductible donations under the provisions of the Income Tax Law.
Mission
FEAC’s mission is to foster and enrich mutual understanding and intercultural communication between Mexico and the United States. To this end, FEAC will provide funding to institutions, organizations, entities, and individuals, and will oversee them to ensure the effectiveness of each investment. FEAC will ensure its long-term sustainability by safeguarding and investing its assets in accordance with its investment strategy.
Projects
The projects of Fomento Educacional A.C. serve as a dynamic platform for binational collaboration, educational innovation, and cultural development. Through initiatives that integrate art, music, education, and technology, the organization promotes educational experiences that connect students, teachers, and professionals in Mexico with their international counterparts in the United States.
History
Building bridges
People build bridges. This is a fundamental truth, not only in the world of construction, but also in the realm of human relationships. Fomento Educacional, A.C. (FEAC), a nonprofit organization, is a bridge-builder committed to fostering greater cultural understanding between Mexico and the United States, in the belief that this goal is not only desirable but also achievable.

Our origin
Over time, FEAC evolved from the Mexican-American Institute of Cultural Relations, A.C., which was originally founded in 1948 under the auspices of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City to promote bicultural understanding by offering language instruction and organizing cultural events. Eventually, the Institute became an autonomous and independent organization under the leadership of a Binational Board of Directors.
Catalyst
In 1968, FEAC was established and acquired real estate and the copyrights to textbooks owned by the Institute. The Institute continued to operate as a cultural center and served as a catalyst for the development of various bicultural centers and schools throughout the country.

Growth
Given the growing competition in the market for language schools in Mexico City, reorganization became inevitable, resulting in the closure of the institute. FEAC shifted part of its activities to the Mexican-American Center for Cultural Relations, A.C. (CEMARC), established in 1971. Also a bicultural language teaching center, CEMARC worked to provide English language instruction and foster bicultural understanding.
Heritage
Thirty-five years later, English language schools continued to proliferate, and American culture continued to spread across the country.
CEMARC has been closed. FEAC’s current mission is to identify funding sources and oversee institutions, organizations, educational entities, and individuals that promote bicultural understanding; to promote bicultural and educational activities; to generate and maximize returns on its endowment; and to increase its endowment through new donations. All of this is done with the aim of enhancing and enriching mutual understanding and intercultural communication between Mexico and the United States.
