San Miguel Met Opera Trust, A.C., runs a bicultural program that consists of opera classes taught by American instructors to prepare the winners of the Metopera Laffont competition in the Mexico City district to perform with confidence on an international stage, often for the first time, specifically to bring their voices and performance skills to the highest possible level, so they can successfully compete in the Rocky Mountains round of the Laffont competition, held in Denver, Colorado, and subsequently in the final rounds at the Met Opera in New York. The goal is to introduce them to the standards of the international opera industry and to provide them with opportunities for potentially long-term mentorship with leaders in the American opera industry.
